Ingredients
For Marination:
- Prawns – 1/2 kg
- Salt – To Taste
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Other Ingredients
- Grated coconut – 1/2 cup
- Coriander – 3 tbsp
- Red Chilly Powder – 1 tsp
- Garlic – 2 tsp
- Shallots (small onion) – sliced 3/4 cup
- Water – 1/2 cup
- Coconut oil – 3 tbsp
- Fenugreek – 1/4 tsp
- Ginger paste (or sliced) – 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves – 1 sprigs
- Tamarind pulp – 1/2 cup (adjust to taste)
- Mustard Seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Red Chilly – 1 (Chopped)
- Salt – to taste
Preparation Method:
- Marinate prawns in salt and turmeric, keep for half an hour.
- Roast together coconut, coriander,chillies, garlic and 1/2 cup shallots (or sliced onion), till the shallots turn brown.
- Add water and grind the above roasted items to a fine paste.
- Heat coconut oil in a pan and crackle fenugreek seeds.
- Add ginger, curry leaves and the rest of the onions, Sauté till onions turn brown.
- Add the above prepared paste, water, tamarind pulp and salt.
- Add prawns to it and cook well.
- When the prawns are done, heat oil in a pan , add mustard seeds, when it splutters add shallots and dry red chilli. Then add this to the above prepared prawn curry.
- Serve hot
