Ingredients
- Toor dal (or Moong Dal) – 1 Cup
- Water – 3 Cups
- Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Slit Green Chillies – 2 to 4
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Small onions/Shallots/Kunjulli – 4 or 5 (Diced )
- Dry Red Chillies – 4
- Curry Leaves – A sprig
- Salt – to taste
Preparation Method
- Pressure cook the dal in 3 cups of water along with salt, green chillies and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder for 2 whistles, when the dal is well cooked, Open the pressure cooker and mash the dal
thoroughly with a spatula. Boil for a few more minutes if there is excess water.
- Heat Ghee in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Saute the diced shallots, red chillies and curry leaves.
- Pour the seasoning over the cooked dal and mix well.
- The Toor dal (or Moong Dal) Curry (Kerala Parippu Curry) is ready, Serve with Rice.
