Ingredients:-
- Cherupayar/Green gram/Moong beans – 1 cup
- Grated coconut – 1/2 cup
- Garlic – 3-4 cloves (or Garlic Paste)
- Ginger – a small piece (or Ginger Paste)
- Shallots/Kunjulli – 6 (or use 1/4 cup chopped onions instead)
- Green chilies – 2
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
- curry leaves – 1 sprigs
- Salt – to taste
Preparation Method:
- Soak Cherupayar/Green gram overnight or at least for 6 hours.
- In a heavy bottomed vessel ,Cook this with enough water, by adding salt around 20 minutes, till it is done, (or cook it in pressure cooker if you want, for 2-3 whistles)
- Grind crushed garlic and Ginger, green chiles and shallots.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, add curry leaves and crushed mixture.
- Fry it for 3-4 minutes and add cooked cherupayar/green gram and turmeric powder.
- Add grated coconut ,and saute for 5-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add more salt if needed. The Curry is Ready
